Project Title:
Transnational Anxiety and the African Global Politics of Race and Ethnicity
Project Abstract:
My research aims to explore West African transnational experiences through the lenses of identity formation in order to further understand identity anxieties and politics amongst transnational migrants. By answering the following questions: How are countries like Sierra Leone adapting with this transnational migration? What are the causes of migration and how do migrants view their experience? What are the stories of individuals and groups who have been affected by societal understand of identity? Essentially, I hope to engage and expand contemporary scholarly understandings of race and ethnicity amongst West Africans both in the United States and on the African continent.
