Foreign Policy Initiative

The current era is a watershed period for foreign policy as the world adjusts to new post cold war dynamics. Many new challenges are emerging for the global community, from the need to respond to global warming to the challenges posed by terrorism. The Einaudi Center’s Foreign Policy Initiative emerged from the understanding that Cornell needs to contribute to these important debates. Its goals are to maximize the intellectual impact of Cornell’s existing resources in the area of international public affairs, and to enhance the impact of the Einaudi Center’s resources in this area.

The objectives are to:

• Distribute information on Cornell faculty expertise and their on-going and proposed activities, notably to students as well as to the broader community by forming a foreign policy network;
• Build collaboration across disciplines, departments, and colleges;
• Provide support for on-going and new activities in the area of foreign policy studies;
• Bring external expertise to campus on topical themes through the Distinguished Speaker Series;
• Mobilize additional funding for foreign policy activities and inform about specific funding opportunities;
• Bring external expertise to campus on topical themes through the Distinguished Speaker Series and the Critical Debates Series.
