European Studies Minor

Students from any college may choose an undergraduate minor in European studies. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum that you can mold to your interests, you’ll have the opportunity to explore Europe’s past, present, and future and demonstrate a knowledge of European languages, culture, history, politics, and international relations.

Visiting Scholars

IES hosts a variety of scholars each year with the goal of providing collaborative opportunities for Europeanists from all over the world to leverage the resources at Cornell to enhance their research.

Migrations Initiative

IES is taking the lead in unpacking the historical and contemporary relevance of migration in writing global histories and understanding the present, as well as to put Europe in its global context. We critically acknowledge European countries’ role in the history of modernization and colonization of other countries within and outside Europe and disclosed the region’s character as an immigrant continent and diaspora of various peoples.
