The UCAR Visiting Scientist Programs announces the annual call for applications for the PACE (Postdocs Applying Climate Expertise) Fellowship Program. Several postdoctoral fellows will be appointed. UCAR postdoctoral positions are generally for two years with the second year based on continued program funding. Successful applicants in this program will hosted by two mentors: one mentor in climate research, the other mentor in the decision making area.

The program seeks recent or anticipated PhDs who have strong expertise in climate science and who are interested in applying their knowledge of the climate system to increase decision-making capacity in climate-sensitive sectors.

A postdoctoral letter of intent (to include thesis information, relevant skills, and letters of reference) is due in May annually.

The UCAR Cooperative Programs for the Advancement of Earth System Science (CPAESS) help prepare the next generation of weather and climate leaders and workforce by managing fellowship, visitor and workshop programs that meet emerging needs of the atmospheric and related sciences communities.

This fellowship program is designed to provide an independent research opportunity to recently graduated PhDs who want to pursue interests that align with the NOAA Climate Program Office. The program focuses on observing, understanding, modeling, and predicting the climate system on seasonal and longer time scales.
