The Wilson Center appoints outstanding scholars, practitioners, journalists and public intellectuals to be in residence as Public Policy Scholars. These men and women hold short-term residential appointments (usually 2-4 months) enabling them to work on issues involving some aspect of public policy that is highly relevant to a program or activity of the Center.   The Center accepts applications on a rolling basis with appointments pending space and funding issues.  Please note that most appointments are made nine to twelve months in advance.  Please submit applications directly to Center program directors or to the Scholar Administration Office Director at policyscholar@wilsoncenter.org. A complete application consists of a two-page proposal, a resume and a cover letter detailing possible tenure times at the Center.  Letters of references may also be requested. The proposal should discuss: 1) the significance of the proposed research, including importance and originality; 2) the relevance of the project to contemporary public policy and the Center’s programmatic goals.  The President of the Center in consultation with the Board of Trustees appoints Public Policy Scholars.
