Strategies for Students (and Others)
Plan a networking strategy early in your college career.
- Visit the Area Studies Programs at the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies in Uris Hall. Participate in their seminars and get acquainted with their staff, faculty, and students.
- Attend special events sponsored by the International Students and Scholars Office.
- Make as many contacts as you can with alumni in international fields. The Area Studies Programs, Cornell Clubs, and the Public Service Center all have active alumni networks.
- Watch the Einaudi Center calendar for events and networking opportunities.
Strategies for Faculty and Staff
The Cornell International Education Network (CIEN) was formed in 1991:
- To promote professional development among staff and faculty working with international students and US students studying abroad,
- To share information and resources, and
- To plan and implement intercultural training programs for faculty, staff, and students.
Members represent a broad cross-section of the university, including the Mario Einaudi Center, the International Students and Scholars Office, Cornell Abroad, graduate and undergraduate admissions, Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, Cornell Career Services, Gannett: Cornell University Health Services, college student service offices, and Campus Life.
