Amelia C. Arsenault

Amelia C. Arsenault is a PhD student at Cornell University’s Department of Government. Her research considers the effects of artificial intelligence on international politics, with a particular interest in the global proliferation of contemporary surveillance and smart city technologies. She is currently investigating the significant role that European states play in the global surveillance market as developers, deployers, and exporters of novel surveillance technologies. Her work has been published in the Oxford Handbook of AI Governance, Journal of Peace Research, and Harvard Business Review. Her doctoral research received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Department of National Defence Mobilizing Insights in Defence and Security (MINDS) Scholarship Initiative.
