The ILR International Programs Office and the Scheinman Institute are offering a winter break Engaged Learning opportunity in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The focus of the program is in the area of labor relations and conflict resolution and is overseen by Richard Fincher (ILR ’73), the executive director of the Asia Labor Arbitration Project (ALAP) in the Scheinman Institute. Students learn about labor relations and dispute resolution with peers from Ton Duc Thang University.

Cornell in Vietnam

Cornell in Vietnam builds upon a previous environmental-themed Cornell in Vietnam offering, "Climate Change Awareness and Service Learning in the Mekong Delta." This course was uniquely structured with three module components: 

  • A seven week instruction period in the fall semester.
  • A three week immersion over winter break.
  • Another seven week period of instruction in the spring semester.

This course focused on the human and environmental issues concerning climate change in Vietnam, and was led by Professors Thuy Tranviet (Vietnamese) and Mike Hoffmann (Entomology).
