Cristina Florea’s research revolves around topics such as nationalism, empire, statehood, war, and regime change in nineteenth and twentieth-century Eastern Europe. Her teaching and writing bridge the fields of German/Habsburg and Russian and Soviet history, and are particularly concerned with state-society relations in contested regions and borderlands.
