Ruth Lawlor

Ruth Lawlor headshot

Assistant Professor, Department of History

Ruth Lawlor teaches U.S. and global diplomatic and military history. Much of her work concerns the global history of World War II, but she also writes broadly about the laws of war, geopolitics and sexual violence. She is currently working on a history of Arctic imperialism.

Sabrina Karim

Associate Professor, Department of Government

Sabrina Karim is an associate professor in the Department of Government. Her research focuses on conflict and peace processes, particularly state building in the aftermath of civil war.

Geographic Research Area: Sub-Saharan Africa, Bangladesh

Teaching/Research Interests: Conflict and peace processes, international involvement in security assistance to post-conflict states, and gender reforms in peacekeeping

Matthew Evangelista

Matrhew Evangelista

President White Professor of History and Political Science, Emeritus

Matthew Evangelista's current teaching and research interests focus on the relationship between gender, nationalism, and war; ethical and legal issues in international affairs (particularly just war theory and international humanitarian law); transnational relations; and separatist movements. He is the President White Professor of History and Political Science in the Department of Government, College of Arts and Sciences.
