IAD Weekly Seminar - How to Identify the 'Best' Policy Practices?: The seminar will explore promising avenues to improve the science policy interface in Africa. Multiple themes under this broad umbrella will be covered, including:
Reviews of productive modes of interfacing science and policy.Detailed explorations of the regional policy-making process, including current obstacles to building strong S/P interfaces.Efforts to train the region's scientists in policy communication.The role of mass media, new media, and civil society in the process.The role of national and regional think tanks.Advocacy efforts directed at policy-makers to promote an evidence-based culture.

Spend Summer '23 in Zambia
Spend time in Lower Zambezi, visit Victoria Falls and see the beauty of Zambia.
The History and Politics of Southern Africa is to be held at the University of Zambia, Cornell’s new Global Hub partner in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. The class will introduce students to the history and politics of Zambia and more broadly southern Africa. Students will travel to various sites and explore the historical sites of European settlement in southern Africa, the liberation wars and the independence process.

In this seminar, we will explore promising avenues to improve the science policy interface in Africa. Learn more about our Cornell Summer Program in Ghana – AU Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals that focuses on African development that engages the interface between the UN 17 SDGs and AU Agenda 2063 and their respective priority areas. Held at one of Cornell's Global Hub partner institutions, the University of Ghana, students will link readings and discussions with visits to relevant historical and cultural sites, including Cape Coast castle, that will provide learning milieus to satisfy academic as well as cross-cultural objectives.
