Priyanka Sen

FLAS Fellow, IES Graduate Fellow 2024-2025

Priyanka Sen is a Ph.D. candidate in the HAUD program. Her research investigates architectural entanglements with spatial geographies, migration and environmental histories, focusing on the South Asian diaspora and its intertwinement with settlement, citizenship, and the transnational immigrant experience. She interrogates the relationship between colonial land policies in South Asia and their reverberations in postcolonial politics, such as the setting up of state agricultural universities that often perpetuated colonial land-grab methods, while also examining the complicated imbrication of immigration, land and housing policies that occurred within Europe during periods of decolonization, and how architectural and agricultural expertise translated throughout these varying socio-political formations from one geography to another.
