Visiting Scholar

Xiangzi Deng is a doctoral candidate at Yuelu Academy of Hunan University. She holds an M.A. (2021) in the Ancient Chinese Literature from Hunan University in Changsha, China. Her research fields are Confucian culture, Rite, Classic Chinese Poetry, and Classic Chinese Novel.

Her doctoral thesis is about The Study of Poetry Education (mainly based on The Book of Songs) and Ritual Education. The main purpose of the research is to explore the importance of Poetry Education and Ritual Education in Confucian Education, and especially the identity and the complementarity between them, which is includes the Chinese Rituals presented by The Book of Songs, and what role that The Book of Songs can be in Chinese Rituals.
